THE PARABLE OF THE TEN GOLD COINS: TODAY’S GOSPEL READING – LUKE 19:11-28

“I tell you, to everyone who has more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. Now as for those enemies of mine who did not want me as their king, bring them here and slay them before me. (Luke 19:26-27 NAB)

Jesus, someday we hope to see the whole history of salvation, from the beginning until the end. We hope to understand how all things that have happened and will happen work together for good, for Your honor and glory, for the salvation of human beings. We have such a narrow vision as humans, that we can see only the here and now; we can’t see tomorrow, let alone Your Second Coming. But we do believe that You are present here now. We believe that, if we hold onto the knowledge of Your presence and Your love, then we will be ready for anything that happens. Increase our faith, renew our hope, give us love.

Note: The prayer’s text is taken from Fr. Killian Speckner, OFMConv., The Prayers of Father Killian.
