SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS (Friday after the Second Sunday after Pentecost)

The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus was established for the universal Church by Pope Pius IX in 1856, after having been first introduced by Pope Clement XIII in 1765 as a proper Office. The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus is the celebration of the love of God made fully manifest in the death of our Lord Jesus Christ.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we glory in the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Your beloved Son, as we call to mind the great things His love has done for us. Fill us with the grace that flows in abundance from the Heart of Jesus, the source of heaven’s gifts. We make our prayer in the most precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
