JESUS TALKS ABOUT SERVICE

Today’s Gospel Reading: Luke 17:7-10 – THIRTY-SECOND WEEK OF THE YEAR: 13 November 2018

Our service to the Gospel is not an extraordinary achievement for which we should expect praise. This is the thrust of the Lord’s words in today’s Gospel passage.

When we have exhausted ourselves in the service of the Word and done our best, we should realize that that is exactly what Jesus expects us to do, He has, after all, given us the stamina and ability to so fruitfully work for the Gospel. In other words, there is no standard level of achievement in Gospel living beyond which we earn  extra points. We are called to do our best and our most for the Lord.

Our service of the Gospel is to all the people all the time.
