SAINT JOSAPHAT, Bishop and Martyr – Memoria: 12 November

12 Nov

The saint was born in Ukraine of Orthodox parents about the year 1580. He became a Catholic and joined the monks of Saint Basil. He became a priest and was elected Bishop of Polock, and worked strenuously for the unity of the Church. He suffered martyrdom at the hands of his enemies in the year 1623.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, filled with the Holy Spirit Saint Josaphat laid down his life for his flock. Renew that Spirit in Your Church, strengthen our hearts hearts with Your grace, so that, with the help of his prayers, we may be ready to lay down our lives for our brethren. We pray this in the most precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
