Today’s Gospel Reading: Mark 10:28-31 – 8th ORDINARY WEEK: Tuesday, 5 February 2019
The Gospel reading wants too show that good intentions are not sufficient. They only have value when we try to give them concrete expression in our lives.
If basic Christian living presents no formidable challenge to us, then perhaps Jesus is calling us to a more intense form of discipleship. Perhaps He is calling us to simplify our life style, engage in a more active prayer life, a more demonstrative parish involvement or to expend ourselves in wider service to an individual in need.
To compensate for everything we give to His service, the Lord promises a qualitatively greater reward not only in this life but in the next as well.
Correct ritual alone or good intentions alone are incomplete. Both must be validated by how we live our life.
