A FUNDAMENTAL TRUST IN GOD

23 Jun

Today’s Gospel Reading: Matthew 6:24-34 – ELEVENTH WEEK OF THE YEAR: Saturday, 23 June 2018

Jesus’ words about the flowers of the field and the birds of the air are not counsels to a careless life. We are warned against the divided loyalty of trusting God in theory while negating that in practice.

The Lord invites us to a fundamental trust in God. Such a trust sees His providence continuing at work in all the events of our lives. It is the conviction that the God who gave us life will not see us disintegrate. The spiritual, loving core inside us that He fashioned and loves is safe and will thrive both in this world and in the next.

Our trust in God gives us an identity, internal coherence and tradition.
