Today’s Gospel Reading: Mark 6:30-34 – Saturday, 3 February 2018
Mark describes the enormous crowds that gathered to hear Jesus. The Lord did not give them new information about the physical universe: no new physics, chemistry or biology. What Jesus imparted was wisdom – the why of life and of history. Thus, His message is a message of liberation.
To the familiar experiences of life, love and law, Jesus brings a context, a new Gestalt, a wider perspective. For this reason, His message is not bound to any culture or era. It speaks a universal message.
The Gospel belongs to no political, economic or ideological viewpoint. It is a message of wisdom that teaches us how to live in love, die in peace and experience an eternal kind of life.
