SAINT JAMES, APOSTLE – FEAST: 25 July

25 Jul

Saint James was born at Bethsaida, the son of Zebedee and the brother of the apostle John. He was present when Christ performed His most important miracles. He was killed by King Herod about the year 42 (Acts 12::2), and is venerated especially at Compostella in Spain where there is a magnificent church dedicated in his honor.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, You accepted the sacrifice of Saint James, the first of your apostles to give his life for your sake. May your Church find strength in his martyrdom and support in his constant prayer. We pray this in the the most precious name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
