Saint Mary Magdalen was one of Christ’s disciples and was present at His death. On the morning of Easter day she was the first to whom the risen Redeemer appeared, according to Saint Mark’s Gospel (16:9). Devotion to her spread throughout the Western Church especially in the twelfth cenntury.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Your Only-begotten Son Jesus Christ made Mary Magdalen the first heraald of Easter joy. Grant that, following her example and helped by her prayers, we may, in this life, proclaim the living Christ, and come to see Him reigning with You in glory. We pray this in the most precious name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
