As He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If this day you only knew what makes for peace – but now it is hidden from your eyes. For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you; they will encircle you and hem you in on all sides. They will smash you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another within you because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.” (Luke 19:41-44 NAB)
Jesus, we thank You for this day, and for the love that people shared with one another today. But we think of those who had no one to love them, of those who had nothing to eat. We know the day will come, when You will sit in judgment over those who have it all and have not shared with others. We pray for Your grace, so that we will never forget the poor and hungry, that we will always share ourselves and all that we have with You, in the person of all those, hungry, naked, in prison, sick, or in any kind of need. Amen.
